Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Genre: YA Fiction
Every fifteen year old girl dreams about what their sixteenth birthday will be like. Will the boy they've been dreaming about finally notice them? Will life magically become what you've always wanted it to be?
For Meghan Chase, she knew that wasn't going to happen for her. She was was poor. Her father had been missing for ten years and the man her mom married later seemed to have trouble remembering she even existed. The only people who seem to truly understand her are her little brother Ethan and her best friend Robbie.
As it turns out, Meghan's sixteenth birthday was much more exciting than she ever expected when her little brother was kidnapped and replaced by a changeling. She must decide just how far she will go to save Ethan and quickly realizes that Robbie is not just a normal teenage boy.
And if finding out that faeries really do exist and that her brother is now being held hostage by them isn't enough, she also learns that Robbie's affectionate nickname for her, Princess, isn't just a nickname.
Meghan's attempt to save her brother brings her to danger at every turn and it isn't long before she is separated from Robbie. When she receives help from Grimalkin, a cat who knows how to make a deal, and a Winter Prince who may just take her life, Meghan realizes that she's nothing more than a pawn in a deadly Faery war.
Just when things couldn't get any more perilous, they find out there is another enemy that none of them knew about: The Iron Fey - a new breed of fey that could destroy them all.
I definitely recommend reading The Iron King and am excited about reading the next installment, The Iron Daughter, which is due out in August, 2010. Check out more about Julie and her books HERE.
