Before I Fall by Lauren OliverRelease Date: March 2, 2010
Publisher: HarperCollins
Genre: YA fiction
The Story (as taken from HarperCollins): What if you had only one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life?
Samantha Kingston has it all: the world's most crush-worthy boyfriend, three amazing best friends, and first pick of everything at Thomas Jefferson High—from the best table in the cafeteria to the choicest parking spot. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life.
Instead, it turns out to be her last.
Then she gets a second chance. Seven chances, in fact. Reliving her last day during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.
My Review: Before I Fall is a fascinating and heart wrenching story of Samantha's Kingston's last day - relived seven times. Samantha isn't the nicest girl in school but she's certainly a realistic one. She's popular, has the most popular best friends and has the boyfriend that every girl wants. And then she dies. It's in the seven days that follow that Sam sees herself and those around her as who they really are. She relives each day differently and each day becomes more important than the day before. When Sam learns what really happens on the night she died, she also learns that so much about her life is connected to that moment. Before I Fall is a beautifully written story and one I could not put down. It is absolutely one of the best books I've read in years. A definite must read!Rating:
